Somnio

Somnio ("we", "our", or "us") is a dream journaling and AI interpretation mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the Somnio app.

By using Somnio, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. We are committed to handling your data with care and transparency.

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information — your name and email address, provided at registration
• Dream content — dream descriptions you type or dictate, and the AI interpretations generated from them
• Voice recordings — audio recordings made within the app when you use the voice input feature, processed for transcription and then discarded
• Subscription information — your subscription tier (Free, Standard, or Premium) and payment status, managed via Google Play
• Personalisation keywords — optional keywords you provide to personalise your dream interpretations
• Device information — device token used to deliver push notifications

We use your information solely to provide and improve the Somnio service:

• To create and manage your account
• To generate AI-powered dream interpretations via Azure OpenAI
• To store your dream journal entries securely in the cloud
• To enforce subscription tier feature limits
• To send you push notifications relevant to your account
• To respond to support requests

We do not use your dream content for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than delivering your interpretations.

Your data is stored on secure Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure located in the United States (East US 2 region). We use the following Azure services:

• Azure SQL Database — account and subscription information
• Azure Cosmos DB — dream journal entries and interpretations
• Azure Blob Storage — voice recording files (temporary, pending transcription)
• Azure Key Vault — secure storage of all application secrets and credentials

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed using BCrypt and never stored in plain text. We implement JWT-based authentication with refresh token rotation.

When you use the voice recording feature, your audio is uploaded to Azure Blob Storage solely for the purpose of transcription via Azure AI Speech Services. Once transcription is complete, the audio file is deleted from storage. We do not retain, analyse, or share your voice recordings for any other purpose.

Voice recording requires your explicit permission via your device's microphone permission prompt.

Somnio uses the following third-party services to deliver its functionality:

• Azure OpenAI (Microsoft) — AI dream interpretation generation
• Azure AI Speech Services (Microsoft) — voice-to-text transcription
• Azure Notification Hubs (Microsoft) — push notifications
• Google Play Billing — subscription payment processing

Each of these services operates under its own privacy policy. We do not sell or share your personal data with any third party for marketing purposes.

We retain your account data and dream journal entries for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated personal data including dream entries, keywords, and account information will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

Voice recordings are deleted immediately after transcription. Payment transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years for legal and financial compliance purposes.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Export your dream journal entries
• Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time

Somnio is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided us with personal data, we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify users via the app where material changes are made. Your continued use of Somnio after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
